US corn inspected for export up 2.3% on week, up 3.8% on year.

The amount of US corn inspected for export rose 2.3% week on week to 1.409 million mt in the week ended March 15. The amount of corn inspected was 3.8% higher than the 1.358 million mt inspected for export in the year-ago week. The largest share of the US’ grain exports last week was corn, with 54.4% of the total inspected for export, compared with 18.9% for soybean. In the 28 weeks since the current marketing year began on September 1, the amount of US corn inspected for export totaled 21.733 million mt, 28.2% lower than in the same period in the previous marketing year and 38.5% of the USDA’s 56.518 million mt projection for the year, which was raised in March 8.
