Tamil Nadu seeks 3 lakh tonnes of rice from Telangana.

Tamil Nadu has requested Telangana to supply three lakh metric tonnes of rice to meet the state’s demand. It has offered to pay Rs 30 more than the minimum support price (MSP) per quintal. On Sunday, Civil Supplies Minister Etela Rajender held a meeting to discuss the proposal with rice millers. He said the proposed arrangement would be beneficial to farmers as well as the State Government. This year, the government has set itself a target of procuring 35.5 lakh tonnes of paddy at MSP from farmers. Of this, three lakh tonnes will be supplied to Tamil Nadu. The MSP for grade-I paddy is 1,590 per quintal; and for grade-2 paddy, it is 1,550 per quintal. The Tamil Nadu government has offered to pay an additional INR 30 per quintal.
