Sugar cooperatives seek at least 1,000 rupees/100 kg export subsidy.

Fearing that the country’s sugar output in 2017-18 (Oct-Sep) may reach a record high of 31 mln tn, the National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories has urged the government to give a subsidy of at least 1,000 rupees per 100 kg on export of the sweetener. The current trend clearly shows that sugar production could reach 31 mln tn. In such a situation, we have to export 4-5 mln tn sugar.
