European Union is likely to produce 141 mln tn soft wheat in 2017-18, up by 300,000 tn from the previous estimate. The production would be 5.1 mln tn higher than a year ago and the highest in the world market. The upgrade is mainly due to improved yields in Bulgaria, Estonia, France, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland in south east Europe but is slightly offset by lower harvests in Germany, Czech Republic and Slovakia.
