During the ongoing procurement season, Punjab has procured 178.92 lakh metric tonnes (MT) paddy while neighboring Haryana procured more than 71.21 lakh MT paddy so far. Punjab Government agencies and private millers have procured total 17892925 tonnes of paddy in the state which included 4463 tonnes procured on December 10. Out of total procurement of 17892925 tonnes of paddy in all the procurement centers of Punjab, the Government agencies procured 17620812 tonnes of paddy (98.5%) till date whereas 272113 tonnes (1.5%) of paddy has been procured by millers. PUNGRAIN had procured 5988042 tonnes (33.5%), MARKFED procured 3889581 tonnes (21.7%). PUNSUP procured 3839978 tonnes (21.5%), PSWC procured 1751604 tonnes (9.8%) and PAFC was able to procure 1771022 tonnes (9.9%) of paddy. The Central Government agency FCI had been able to procure 380585 tonnes (2.1%). In Haryana, more than 71.21 lakh metric tonnes (MTs) of paddy has arrived so far in mandis, as against the arrival of 69.56 lakh MT during the same period of last year
