Due to higher demand from domestic stockists and the poultry feed sector, bajra prices in the benchmark market of Jaipur, Rajasthan, extended Tuesday’s gains, market insiders said. Prices were also bolstered by a decrease in coarse grain acreage. According to the state’s agricultural department’s second advance estimate for the 2021-22 (Jul-Jun) season, production in Rajasthan, one of the major growers of bajra, is expected to be 36.1 percent lower than the previous year, at 3.7 million tones. Bajra was sold at a price of 1,860-1,975 rupees per 100 kg, up 10-15 rupees from the day before.
