Maharashtra seeks Centre’s nod to buy 20,000 tn more maize for PDS.

Maharashtra has sought the Centre’s approval for procurement of additional 20,000 tn of maize to be sold through the Public Distribution System. In 2017-18(Jul-Jun), the state had already procured 50,000 tn of maize which is distributed at the subsidized rate of 1 rupees per kg under the Food Security Plan. The state government procures the grain at 1,425 rupees per 100 kg and the difference is borne by the Centre.
