India govt scraps advance authorisation scheme for some maize derivatives.

The government has scrapped the advance authorisation scheme for some derivative products of maize with immediate effect. The derivatives of maize covered in the notification are maize starch powder, liquid glucose, dextrose monohydrate, anhydrous dextrose, modified starch, corn gluten, and sorbitol. Now, import of maize will not be allowed against the re-export of these derivative products. Under the advance authorisation scheme, a product is imported duty-free with a re-export obligation after value addition.
