Govt looking for anganwadi, mid-day meals to sell excess pulses from buffer.

Govt is looking at ways to dispose off pulses from the buffer stock to ensure that inventories do not rise much beyond the targeted 2 million tonne. Officials said to Human Resource Development Ministry and woman and child welfare ministry to buy pulses from buffer stock for their mid-day meal and anganwadis. Govt already has 2 million tonne of pulses in its buffer, of which about 0.1 million tonne is from the 2015-16 (Jul-Jun) rabi season procurement for the current crop year is still on therefore early disposal of old crop is important to avoid wastage due to spoilage and contamination.
