EU sees 2017-18 corn import up at record 15.3 mln tn.

European Union sees corn imports into the bloc rising to a record high 15.3 mln tn in 2017-18 (Jul-Jun) from 12.9 mln tn last year. The likely rise in corn imports is due to a fall in production of usable corn taking spoilage into account by 3.61 mln tn to 58.45 mln as crops in France, Hungary, Slovakia, and Austria were hit by dry weather. EU has imported about 978,000 tn of corn as of Jul 25, up 33% on year.
