CGE of Sri Lanka seeks corn import permit for feed millers.

Ceylon Grain Elevators Plc (CGE), Sri Lanka’s leading poultry integrator, has asked to import corn where licenses have been issued to third parties, restricting trade. CGE said in a quarterly review that hiked price of local corn and associated import restrictions persisted during the period under review, which have directly affected the company’s bottom line. Therefore, with the aim of relieving the local corn supply shortage, appeals have been made to the government to issue import permits directly to feedmillers to procure better quality corn at competitive prices.
