Bihar rabi maize crop may take a hit due to unfavorable weather.

Production of maize in Bihar, one of largest producers of the coarse grain in the rabi season, is likely to be 10-15% lower this year, as farmers in many districts of northern Bihar are reporting lack of grain filling in the corncob. Many districts in northern Bihar have reported crop loss. The state government is conducting surveys at the moment. Initial reports suggest that lack of grain filling in the early sown maize crop may be due to lower than normal temperatures during crop growth.
