About 100 procurement centres for maize to be opened in Telangana.

Irrigation and Marketing Minister said 100 procurement centres will be opened for purchasing maize from farmers across Telangana. The Minster said 20 purchasing centres had been opened across the State to help farmers sell their produce at minimum support price (MSP). Asking the farmers not to sell their produce to middlemen, Rao said 100 purchasing centres would be opened in two to three days. To get MSP of Rs 1,425, the Minister advised farmers to bring maize to market after properly drying it to maintain 14 per cent moisture. Stating that paddy production of current Kharif will increase in Telangana considerably compared to last year’s production due to good rainfall. More procurement centres would be opened to meet the demand this year. Govt focussed on making agriculture profitable by reducing influence of middlemen in market and restricting cost on cultivation.
