As per ABARES report published on 4th Sep. Lentil production for this year estimated at 12.2 lakh tonne, down by 27.2% from 16.8 lakh tonnes in previous year. Whereas lentil crop area also down by 0.2% to 645 thousand hectares from 646 thousand hectares in previous years.
- Chana prices showed downward trend in the past week due to cautious #trading by millers at higher price and trade disruption caused by strike in #MadhyaPradesh. Chana prices are decreased by 2.8% on week-on-week basis.
- Masur prices displayed downward trajectory throughout the week ending on 8th Sep. due to government advisory for mandatory stock discloser and #NAFED decided to withdraw its tender for purchase of imported Masur for crop year 2022. The demand for masoor increased because of an increase in #Masurdal consumption driven by the higher price of #TurDal.
- Tur prices were decreased during the whole week ending on 8th Sep. due to limited demand, supplies from Burma and Africa and recent rainfall in Tur producing regions. According to recent data from Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, #Tursowing as on 08 Sep is 4292.3 thousand hectares, down by 5.9% from 4561.0 thousand hectare during same time previous year.
- Urad prices increased on weekly basis due to increase in CNF prices and week rainfall in urad growing areas which concerns the production of this year #uradcrop and less sowing acreage. According to recent data, #uradsowing is down by 14% as on 08th Sep to 3189.4 thousand hectares from 3707.9 thousand hectare at same time last year.
- Moong prices continued their upward trend last week due to low arrivals and limited carryover stock of moong held by both government and private sector.
