According to Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, the area under kharif maize is increased by 4 percent to 8,579 thousand hectares as against 8,262 thousand hectares sowed during the same period last year.
Madhya Pradesh stands out among the Indian states as the one that contributes the most to the sowing of maize, with 1,744 thousand hectares. Comparing this to the 1,620 thousand hectares of sowing over the same period last year, there has been an impressive gain of 8%.
Karnataka, with its 1,610 thousand hectares of sown land, comes in second among the states. However, when compared to the 1,466 thousand hectares over the same period last year, this statistic shows a rise of 10%.
