As on7th Aug 2020 the total summer crops has been sown on 96.555 million hectare area against 87.752 million hectare

The summer (Kharif) crop sowing has improved as compared to last season due to timely widespread rainfalls across the India. As on7th Aug 2020 the total summer crops has been sown on 96.555 million hectare area against 87.752 million hectare area during the corresponding period of last year. An increase in area coverage by 10.03 % compared to last year in the country. As a whole, there is no impact of COVID-19 on progress of area coverage under summer (kharif) crops as on date.

As per the sowing data released by GOI on 7th August 2020, the area under oilseeds increased by 15.50% to 18.12 million hectare vs 15.688 million hectare during the same period previous season. In Soybean the farmers have sowed 11.8072 million hectare which is up by 7.49% vs 10.9842 million hectare planted in the same week in the previous season. The Soybean sowing area in Maharashtra state has increased  by over 12% whereas as soybean sowing area in Rajasthan & Telangana states have come down by 1% & 6% respectively. Also the area under groundnut sowing is up by 43.91% i.e 4.729 million hectare  vs 3.286 million hectare as compared the same week last season.  In Gujarat state the sowing area of soybean and groundnut make a remarkable increase this season. This season highest increase was recorded in paddy (17.36%), oils seeds (15.50%)  & pulses  (4.2%) because of the timely widespread rains, good soil moisture and well availability of labour in villages due to Covid. In India the soybean prices opened weak taking cues from International markets & MDEX also traded weak today. The soybean is trading at INR 37,920 against yesterday closed at  INR 38,320 and today traded low by 1.46% in the future exchange .  At JNPT the african soybean prices are in range  INR37,250-37,500+ GST PMT.

In India the demand of meat & poultry products are still weak. Higher carry over stock of soybean and increased sowing weigh on the soybean prices.

Market Prices:

Soybean meal prices opened weak today due to good sowing report of oil seeds across India. Soybean meal prices range INR 28,800-32,500+ GST across India.  The reseller are quoting soybean meal cheaper for some of the processors material  by INR 300-400 PMT.  Some processors also reduce their prices by INR 200-500 PMT in second half.

The meal demand is limited and the feed mfgs/poultry farmers are buying soybean meal as per their requirements & even though the poultries/feed mfgs have a limited stocks in their hand.

The meal demand also remains weak due to the prospects of bumper sowing of soybean this season due to timely good rains & huge carry over weigh on soybean as well as meal.

Sunflower meal prices open flat to positive today, taking cues from International markets as replacement are at higher prices. The Sunflower meal pellet prices quoted by importers are in range INR 22,500- 23,500 PMT + GST ex Tuticorin &  Vizag ports . The resellers are quoting higher price in range INR 22,400-22,500 PMT +GST at Tuticorin and INR 22,500 PMT+GST Vizag port respectively.

The rapeseed meal prices open flat & firm in domestic market.
